WHO ARE WE ?
The Rotaract Club of Chunnakam, located in the culturally rich town of Chunnakam in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, was founded in 1994 under the Rotary Club of Jaffna. Despite facing challenges during the Sri Lankan civil war, the club maintained strong leadership and continued to deliver essential services to its community. With a mission to build a community through service and develop socially conscious leaders, the club has played a key role in addressing public health issues, educational needs, and infrastructure development. Notably, its members have actively collaborated with government officials and international organizations, establishing the club as a model of resilience and civic engagement.
Over the years, the club has produced 31 presidents, each contributing to the club’s growth and recognition. From pioneering community projects to publishing the Suruthi magazine, the club has consistently innovated in service. Milestone leaderships, such as the first female president and significant expansions in project scope and networking, marked turning points in the club’s journey. With each leader building upon the legacy of the past, the Rotaract Club of Chunnakam has gained a reputation as one of the most dedicated and impactful clubs within Rotary District 3220, with ambitions to continue growing its influence both locally and internationally.
